  • November 2001 - March 2002

    Adviser to Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Director, Independent Evaluation Office, International Monetary Fund (IMF), Washington, D.C., USA

    Prepared a detailed study on the Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (coordinating the work by leading NGOs with global presence).

  • January 1998 - October 2001

    Adviser to the Executive Director (India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan) at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Washington, D.C., USA.

    As an Adviser to the Executive Director, served on the Executive Board of the IMF, which is continually in session. This involved identification of the issues important for the constituency (India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan) and raising those at the IMF Executive Board for effective solutions, forming the official views on the proposals raised at the IMF for the considerations of the Executive Directors and keeping the Government of India and the Reserve Bank of India informed about the strategic issues in the international financial markets having a bearing on the national interest.

    Director and Adviser for various Divisions of the Department of Economic Analysis and Policy (DEAP), Reserve Bank of India.

  • October 1992-September 1993

    Secretary to the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India.

    Coordinated various activities relating to the functioning of the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India.

  • October 1977-October 1992 

    Joined the Reserve Bank of India as Research Officer in the Department of Economic Analysis and Policy and held various positions including Deputy Director and Press Relations Officer (PRO) of the Reserve Bank of India (October 1991-June 1992).

  • September 1974-September 1977

    Served the State Bank of India as Officer Gr. I and gained first-hand experience of commercial banking in rural areas.
